GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s and women’s swimming and diving for the week ending Jan. 20. This week’s awards honor a pair of student-athletes from Gallaudet University.

Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) from Gallaudet University has been selected as the NEAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athlete of the Week after strong showings at two events last week. On Jan. 18, Sealts finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.21) and 200-yard individual medley (2:09.41) against Penn State Altoona. He also placed second in the 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard freestyle relay. The next day against Stevenson, Sealts won the 200-yard butterfly with a personal best time of 2:12.27. The Bison’s sophomore swimmer also won the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.63), 200-yard individual medley (2:11.13) and 400-yard freestyle relay (5:15.17). This week marks the fifth time Sealts has been honored this season.

Julia Miller-Notestone (Medford, Ore.) from Gallaudet University has been named the NEAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after helping the Bison split against Penn State Altoona and Stevenson University. Miller-Notestone won two individual events in a win over Penn State Altoona, including the 200-yard backstroke where she set a new personal best with a time of 2:25.80. She also was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed first with a time of 2:33.15. The Bison’s junior also picked up a first-place finish in the 500-yard backstroke against Stevenson and had three second-place finishes on the weekend.


The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has 12 NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Cazenovia College, College of Saint Elizabeth, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University – Abington, Pennsylvania State University – Berks, SUNY Cobleskill, Morrisville State, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and Wells College. Associate members are: Cedar Crest College (W Swimming), D’Youville College (W Lacrosse), Hilbert College (M&W Lacrosse), Medaille College (M&W Lacrosse), Rutgers University – Camden (M Golf), and Wilson College (M Volleyball). The NEAC has partnered with the North Atlantic Conference in the sport of men’s tennis and with the Colonial State Athletic Conference in the sport of Field Hockey.
